April 4 [1839] View of Parramatta L Campbell Esq 15.15

This work by Conrad Martens can be clearly identified as the View of Parramatta
commissioned by Campbell.
The work is dated 1839 and is painted from a lower and closer vantage point than the
other 3 works with the Same title ;this work shows a glimpse of Pemberton Grange
significantly closer in the mid foreground and the recently completed Campbell house
as the focal point on the right hand side knoll.
Newlands which is in the Martens sketch of 1837 and other 3 large views of Parramatta
by Conrad Martens of 1837/38 is now obscured by the newly completed Campbell
residence.
